Telefonica Brasil VIV dividend reaches US accounts after SEC filing
Telefonica Brasil has declared an interest on capital distribution of R$450 million gross, with a record date of October 26, 2026, and payment by April 30, 2027.

American retail investors holding shares of Telefonica Brasil S.A. in their brokerage accounts are set to receive a fresh cash distribution following a new corporate filing. The telecommunications giant, which operates under the prominent Vivo brand, submitted its official Form 6-K report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 14, 2026, detailing the exact amounts, key record dates, and payment timelines that will govern how this capital reaches foreign portfolios.
The payout is structured under a specific Brazilian corporate mechanism known as Interest on Capital (IoC). Unlike standard dividends, this distribution is treated as an expense on the company's local balance sheet but is subject to a flat withholding tax. According to the October 14, 2026 SEC filing, the company's board of directors approved a gross distribution of R$450 million (four hundred fifty million Brazilian reais), which translates to a net distribution of R$371.25 million after accounting for the standard 17.5% local withholding income tax.
For individual share classes, the gross amount per share is set at R$0.14081834570, yielding a net payment of R$0.11617513520 per share after tax. Because the company's New York-listed American Depositary Receipts trade under a direct 1:1 ratio to its underlying common shares, as established in Citibank depository records on April 2, 2025, this per-share figure translates directly to the assets held in U.S. brokerage accounts, subject to currency conversion rates at the time of payment.
To qualify for the payment, investors must hold the shares at the close of trading on October 26, 2026. Starting October 27, 2026, the stock will trade "ex-dividend" (ex-IoC) on both the local exchange in São Paulo and the New York Stock Exchange. According to the SEC filing, the company's executive board has until April 30, 2027, to complete the physical cash distribution to shareholders. The final per-share amount remains subject to minor upward adjustments depending on the volume of shares repurchased under the company's active share buyback program between now and the October 26 record date.
