Superior Court of Justice Upholds 50-Year Sentence for Ex-Federal Deputy Flordelis

Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice (STJ) has unanimously upheld the 50-year, 28-day prison sentence against former Federal Deputy Flordelis dos Santos de Souza, closing the judicial chapter on one of the country’s most high-profile and sensational criminal cases. The court rejected the defense’s appeal, confirming her conviction as the mastermind behind the 2019 murder of her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo.
