Shared Private Jet Links Bolsonaro’s Son, Top Justice to Master Bank Financial Scandal

A deepening scandal involving a failed bank, a top Supreme Court Justice, and a prominent presidential opposition figure has highlighted the close ties between Brazil’s political elite and financial entities under criminal investigation. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), son of the former president and a current presidential candidate, and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes were revealed to have used the same private jet linked to a company controlled by Daniel Vorcaro, the arrested former head of the collapsed Master Bank.

The discovery complicates an already volatile political environment, fueling corruption narratives against both the judiciary and the opposition in the run-up to this year’s election. Justice Moraes, a central figure in politically sensitive investigations, and his wife used the Embraer Legacy 650 jet (prefix PP-NLR) in August 2025. Eight months earlier, in January 2025, Senator Bolsonaro, his wife, and two daughters flew the same jet from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Brasília.

The aircraft is registered to a company that Federal Police (PF) documents identify as being effectively controlled by Vorcaro, the former Master Bank chief. Vorcaro was arrested multiple times in late 2025 and 2026 as part of Operation Compliance Zero, a sprawling investigation into Master Bank's collapse that alleges massive financial fraud, money laundering, and regulatory capture.

The connection between the powerful Justice and the bank under investigation is further detailed in PF documents that reveal a R$50 million contract between Master Bank and the law firm of Moraes’s wife, Viviane Barci. The contract allegedly stipulated that part of the payment would be made with stakes in a jet and a helicopter, though the firm stated it merely contracted air taxi services.

Adding another layer of complexity, Flávio Bolsonaro’s close associate, lawyer Willer Tomaz, was on board the jet during the Senator’s flight. Tomaz, who is himself a target of a separate PF investigation into money laundering linked to social security fraud, claims he paid for the flight and denies any connection to Vorcaro. Senator Bolsonaro has used the revelations about the jet to attack Justice Moraes publicly, accusing him of "weaponizing the State" and "imploding democracy".

The shared use of a vehicle tied to a major financial scandal ensures continued high-level scrutiny on both the highest court and the leading opposition family in the coming months. The revelation of intertwined connections only deepens the political instability in Brasília as the Federal Police continues its investigation into the Master Bank fraud, which has already seen key figures in finance and politics detained.
