Global investors tracking the race for commercial electric air taxis just received a concrete sign of progress from the public markets. On November 4, 2026, Florida-based Eve Air Mobility, a spin-off of Brazilian aerospace giant Embraer, announced a binding sales agreement that transitions the company from early-stage development to firm commercial commitments.

The binding contract, signed with Brazilian startup operator FlyBIS Aviation, covers up to 12 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The deal includes two firm orders and purchase rights for ten additional units. This agreement formalizes and scales down a December 2022 letter of intent between the two companies, which had initially contemplated up to 40 aircraft.

FlyBIS Aviation, an executive aviation startup based in Caxias do Sul, plans to deploy the zero-emission aircraft in Southern Brazil. The planned flight paths target highly trafficked tourist and business corridors across the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Initial routes under study include coastal connections between Navegantes, Balneário Camboriú, and Florianópolis, alongside mountain routes to regional tourist hubs like Gramado and Bento Gonçalves.

For international investors, the deal highlights Brazil's emerging role as a primary launchpad for urban air mobility. The country's Ministry of Ports and Airports convened government representatives and aviation authorities in September 2026 to coordinate the regulatory framework, airspace integration, and vertiport infrastructure required for commercial operations. FlyBIS is Eve’s second committed operator in the country, following a June 2025 binding agreement with São Paulo-based operator Revo for up to 50 aircraft.

The commercial commitment comes as Eve progresses through its flight-test campaign. The company's full-scale engineering prototype, which completed its maiden flight on December 19, 2025, has logged more than 70 test flights. According to the company's November 4, 2026 statement, the program is currently conducting transition-flight testing, which includes activating the rear pusher propulsion system in mid-air to prepare for wing-borne flight.
