XP Inc. (NASDAQ: XP) has officially entered Brazil’s R$ 4 trillion acquiring market, launching a payment terminal and corporate credit card ecosystem. The financial services giant introduced "XP Empresas Pay" and the "XP Empresas Visa Infinite" card, aiming to capture a larger share of the highly competitive small and medium enterprise (SME) segment. The move directly challenges established payment processors like StoneCo (NASDAQ: STNE) and PagSeguro (NYSE: PAGS), as well as traditional heavyweights like Itaú Unibanco (NYSE: ITUB) and Banco Bradesco (NYSE: BBD).

The payment terminal, developed in partnership with global financial technology firm Fiserv using its Clover platform, is scheduled for a full commercial rollout in September 2026. XP is initially targeting its existing base of over 100,000 active corporate clients, focusing on businesses with annual revenues of up to R$ 500 million. By integrating payment processing directly with its digital corporate accounts, XP intends to leverage transaction data to offer collateralized credit lines backed by clients' investment portfolios.

This aggressive expansion comes as investors monitoring the Brazil stock market today assess how increased competition will impact margins for dedicated fintechs. For those looking to invest in Brazil or trading the Brazil ETF (NYSE Arca: EWZ), XP’s transition from an investment-focused platform to a transactional hub signals a major shift in the local banking landscape. Meanwhile, broader macroeconomic factors, including the USD BRL exchange rate—with local crypto markets trading at BTC/BRL 331,743 and ETH/BRL 9,737.38—continue to shape the operating environment for Brazilian financial institutions.
