XP Enters Acquirer Market to Challenge Fintechs and Banks
XP launches 'XP Empresas Pay' and a Visa Infinite corporate card targeting PMEs, directly challenging established Brazilian acquirers and digital banks.

Brazilian financial giant XP has officially entered the merchant acquirer market, intensifying competition for small and medium-sized enterprises (PMEs). The firm launched its new payment processing machine, "XP Empresas Pay," alongside the "Cartão XP Empresas Visa Infinite" corporate credit card. Developed in partnership with global fintech leader Fiserv, the new merchant terminal aims to capture a share of Brazil's highly competitive payment processing sector.
The strategic rollout, scheduled to begin gradually in the third quarter of 2026, targets businesses with up to R$ 500 million in annual revenue. XP plans to leverage its existing base of 100,000 active corporate clients to drive initial adoption. To attract business owners, the new corporate credit card features no annual fee and offers an "investback" of up to 1.2% on purchases, which automatically reinvests into a CDI-pegged fund.
This aggressive push directly threatens the market share of traditional banking giants and digital competitors. For global investors tracking B3 stocks and the broader Brazil ETF (EWZ), this move signals a major battle for "principality"—becoming the primary financial institution for corporate clients. XP’s expansion into transactional services and payment processing sets up a direct clash with dominant players like Itaú Unibanco (ITUB) and Nubank (ROXO34; NU), which have heavily targeted the lucrative PME segment.
As of today, the broader digital asset ecosystem in Brazil continues to trade actively, with BTC/BRL priced at 331,743 and ETH/BRL at 9,737.38. The integration of payment processing, credit, and investment solutions under one roof allows XP to utilize transaction data to refine its credit risk models, potentially accelerating its corporate lending book in the quarters ahead.
