Global venture capital funding rebounded significantly in 2025, with investors deploying $425 billion into more than 24,000 private companies. According to Crunchbase data, this represents a 30% year-over-year increase from the $328 billion recorded in 2024, making 2025 the third-highest venture financing year on record behind only 2021 and 2022. The recovery was characterized by an unprecedented concentration of capital into late-stage startups and mega-rounds.

Artificial intelligence remained the dominant force in the global startup ecosystem, capturing roughly 50% of all venture funding. Total investment in AI-related fields reached $211 billion in 2025, an 85% surge from $114 billion in 2024. This extreme concentration of capital was led by a handful of frontier labs and infrastructure providers, with OpenAI, Scale AI, Anthropic, Project Prometheus, and xAI collectively raising $84 billion—accounting for nearly 20% of the entire global venture market.

The massive influx of capital pushed private valuations to historic heights, with the Crunchbase Unicorn Board approaching a total value of $7.5 trillion by the close of 2025. High-profile private valuations were led by SpaceX at $800 billion, followed by OpenAI at $500 billion and Anthropic at $183 billion. The exit market also saw record-breaking activity, highlighted by Google’s $32 billion acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz, which marked the largest venture-backed acquisition on record.

These global macroeconomic shifts continue to influence technology allocations and investment strategies across regional markets, including Latin America. On the digital asset front, local markets reflect active trading volumes alongside these broader tech trends. In recent trading, Bitcoin was priced at approximately BTC/BRL 323,255, while Ethereum stood at ETH/BRL 9,130.40.
