A new independent nonprofit named Ethereum Institutional launched on July 1, 2026, establishing a dedicated, neutral gateway for Wall Street banks and asset managers to deploy on-chain financial products. Backed by Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin alongside publicly traded digital asset treasury firms BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) and SharpLink (NASDAQ: SBET), the organization represents a major structural shift for the network. The group is designed to assume the business development, marketing, and institutional outreach responsibilities previously managed under the Ethereum Foundation’s go-to-market function.

The launch of Ethereum Institutional comes as the Ethereum Foundation undergoes a broader restructuring, which recently included a 20% workforce reduction and the departure of several key executives. By operating as an independent, ecosystem-neutral nonprofit, the new entity aims to act as an unbiased counterpart for global financial institutions navigating complex decisions around asset tokenization, stablecoin deployment, and digital custody. The founding team, consisting of former Ethereum Foundation enterprise leaders, plans to expand geographic coverage across major financial hubs including New York, London, Singapore, Zurich, and Tokyo.

For investors tracking the ETH/USD pair, this institutional push could directly impact on-chain asset valuations by accelerating the migration of traditional capital to public ledgers. Ethereum currently hosts roughly 60% of the global stablecoin supply and approximately two-thirds of all tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). By offering a structured, non-commercial entry point, the nonprofit seeks to secure Ethereum's position as the primary settlement layer for global finance. As of today, live market data shows Ethereum trading at ETH/BRL 9173.81, while Bitcoin is priced at BTC/BRL 326953.
