A critical regulatory deadline arrives today, July 15, 2026, as U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer is scheduled to announce final Section 301 tariffs of up to 25% on Brazilian goods. The proposed measures, which could also include potential 12.5% surcharges, target roughly 4,200 Brazilian products representing up to $15 billion in annual export value. Affected goods span key industrial and agricultural sectors, including iron, wood moldings, and ethyl alcohol.

In response to the looming trade barriers, Brazil's Finance Ministry, led by Dario Durigan, confirmed it is preparing a new Provisional Measure (MP) to shield domestic exporters. The emergency aid package will be modeled after the "Brasil Soberano" program, which previously authorized billions in credit lines and financial guarantees to support local businesses hit by unilateral foreign tariffs. Durigan noted that while negotiations with Washington remain open, the government is prepared to act cautiously to protect domestic employers.

The threat of immediate trade barriers poses downside risks for Brazilian small-cap industrial and agricultural exporters, which are highly sensitive to sudden shifts in export costs. On the corporate front, market participants are closely monitoring major industrial and manufacturing players such as Weg (WEGE3), Tupy (TUPY3), and Randon (RAPT4) to gauge the potential impact of the final tariff list on supply chains and international revenue.

Amid the trade policy uncertainty, Brazilian financial markets showed moderate activity today. The benchmark Bovespa index (IBOV) traded at 176,641.10 points, up .51%. In large-cap equities, state-run oil firm Petrobras (PETR4) remained flat at 40.66, mining giant Vale (VALE3) gained 1.59% to reach 74.01, and financial heavyweight Itaú Unibanco (ITUB4) edged up 0.25% to trade at 43.63.
