Paranapanema Gets $40M Dubai Investment Offer
Distressed copper producer Paranapanema (PMAM3) received a binding $40 million investment proposal from Dubai's HW Holding to restructure debt and fund operations.

SÃO PAULO — Distressed Brazilian copper producer Paranapanema S.A. (PMAM3) announced it has received a binding $40 million investment proposal from Dubai-based HW Holding Ltd. The cash injection offers a critical lifeline to the company as it navigates its ongoing bankruptcy restructuring and attempts to restart operational momentum. Following the announcement, PMAM3 shares surged 17.86% to close at R$ 0.33 on the B3 exchange.
The proposed $40 million investment is structured in two equal tranches of $20 million. The first tranche is earmarked for the acquisition of debentures issued by the company to facilitate debt restructuring. The second tranche will be directed toward working capital and the purchase of raw materials, providing immediate liquidity to stabilize industrial operations.
This binding offer comes on the heels of major balance sheet cleaning by Paranapanema, which recently eliminated approximately R$ 4.75 billion in liabilities through debt settlement and partial liquidation agreements with creditors. While the company still carries remaining bank debts and judicial recovery obligations, the incoming capital from Dubai represents a pivotal step toward operational recovery.
The broader Brazilian market traded slightly lower today, with the benchmark index IBOV down 0.36% at 176,010.9. Among major equities, state-run oil giant PETR4 fell 0.17% to 40.59, mining major VALE3 rose 0.68% to 74.51, and financial heavyweight ITUB4 dropped 1.12% to 43.14.
