The Organization of American States (OAS) is deploying an Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) to monitor Brazil’s highly contested 2026 general election, which is scheduled for its first round on October 4. The mission’s mandate is to observe the electoral process, from security protocols to transparency mechanisms, before issuing technical recommendations intended to strengthen confidence in the results, particularly at a time of significant political tension in the country.
