Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, has been named in a rejected plea deal proposal by former Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro, who alleged the minister received R$20 million (approximately $3.9 million) in illegal campaign funds, known as *caixa dois*, for his 2022 Senate re-election campaign. Silveira, a key figure in President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s cabinet and responsible for overseeing the energy sector, is the only current Lula minister cited in the collaboration minutes submitted by Vorcaro to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) and the Federal Police (PF).
