President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has called for "profound reforms" of Brazil’s judicial and political system, marking a significant escalation in institutional tensions following an ethics crisis centered on the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and one of its most powerful judges. The President's demands came as Federal Police documents revealed compromising communication between STF Justice Alexandre de Moraes and Daniel Vorcaro, the disgraced former owner of the bankrupt Banco Master. Lula urged the STF’s leadership and the Attorney General to launch a thorough and transparent investigation, stating that all parties involved must be investigated without "shielding," as his coordinator, Sergio Gabrielli, commented that the Supreme Court is currently navigating a "deep crisis."
