The Federal Police (PF) of Brazil has ordered the current President of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, and his predecessor, Roberto Campos Neto, to testify as witnesses in a widening investigation into alleged financial fraud and regulatory capture at the country's monetary authority. Also summoned for a deposition is André Esteves, the founder and senior partner of BTG Pactual, Latin America’s largest investment bank. The high-profile intimations, part of an investigation dubbed ‘Operation Compliance Zero’ centered on the Banco Master case, immediately heightened political and regulatory risk for the Brazilian financial sector, bringing scrutiny to the integrity of bank supervision.
