American retail investors looking to trade global battery metals directly on US exchanges saw a sharp move on Wednesday. Shares of Sigma Lithium Corporation, a prominent lithium producer operating in Brazil, jumped 6.24% to close at $5.54 on November 4, 2026, recovering from a recent slide.

The rally followed a major balance sheet restructuring announced by the company on November 3, 2026. Sigma Lithium successfully priced an upsized $125 million offering of senior unsecured convertible bonds due in 2031. The transaction was increased by 25% from an initially planned $100 million due to strong demand, allowing the miner to overhaul its capital structure.

The proceeds from the bond sale will be used to pay down approximately 80% of the company's senior secured debt held by Synergy Capital. By transitioning from a floating rate of SOFR plus 6.95% (amounting to roughly 11.45% annually) to a fixed 7% annual coupon, the company expects to significantly lower its cash interest expenses and extend its debt maturities from June 2027 to November 2031.

Sigma Lithium operates the Grota do Cirilo project in Brazil's Vale do Jequitinhonha, a region in the state of Minas Gerais that has fast become a hub for high-grade, environmentally sustainable "green lithium". Despite navigating a volatile global lithium market and temporary local regulatory pauses earlier in the autumn, the company confirmed in its November 2, 2026, preliminary quarterly preview that it remains on track to produce 240,000 tonnes of lithium concentrate over the next 12 months, aiming for 330,000 tonnes in fiscal year 2027.

By replacing secured, floating-rate debt with long-term, fixed-rate unsecured financing, the miner is positioning itself to build operating cash flow. The transaction is expected to officially close on or about November 16, 2026, pending final regulatory approvals.
