The competitive advantage of hydrous ethanol over gasoline has reached its highest level in eight years, a dynamic that is creating a significant profitability window for Brazilian sugar and energy producers like Cosan (CSAN3) and Raízen (RAIZ4). According to data from the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA), the price parity for hydrous ethanol compared to gasoline in São Paulo reached 57.9%, a level not seen since 2018. This ratio makes the biofuel the economically superior choice for consumers with flex-fuel vehicles, translating to an effective saving of R$1.32 per liter at the pump in Brazil's most populous state.
