Speculators Hold Extreme Net-Long Position in Soybean Futures

Large institutional speculators have amassed a substantial net-long position of 123,705 contracts in soybean futures, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) report released by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The positioning, derived from 180,562 long contracts versus 56,857 short contracts held by non-commercial traders, signals a high degree of bullish conviction by trend-following investors in the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) market, a trend which has significant implications for Brazil’s crucial agribusiness sector.
