Petrobras Hits All-Time Production Record in Q2 2026, Driven by Pre-Salt Expansion

Petrobras (PETR4, PBR) announced a new operational record for the second quarter of 2026, reporting an average own production of 3.34 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), a 14.1% increase year-over-year that points to a strong financial print in the coming weeks. The positive news saw shares of the state-run oil giant edge up, with PETR4 trading at R$41.21, a gain of 0.49% on the day, while the broader Ibovespa (IBOV) gained 0.70% to 176,564.75 points. The record production figure was largely attributed to the accelerated ramp-up of new Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) units in the prolific pre-salt region, specifically noting the early start-up of the P-79 platform.
