Global Speculators Wager on Brazil Agribusiness Boost with Huge Soybean Bet

Large financial speculators are placing an enormous and near-record bet on higher global soybean prices, a position that signals a potential revenue boost for the Brazilian farmers and the massive **agribusiness** sector that anchors the country’s economy. The latest data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which tracks the positioning of large traders in futures markets, showed the group—known as non-commercial or managed money traders—holding 216,046 long contracts against only 38,183 short contracts, a net-long position of 177,863 contracts. This level of extreme positioning suggests that a significant segment of the market is anticipating a sustained price rally for the oilseed.
