Large financial speculators are maintaining a significantly bullish position in global soybean futures, placing a major bet on higher prices even as Brazil, the world’s largest producer, completes another season of record supply. Non-commercial traders—a category dominated by hedge funds and managed money—held a net-long position of 177,863 contracts in the latest available figures, with 216,046 contracts betting on a price rise versus 38,183 contracts betting on a fall. This positioning, which nears historical highs, is a concrete signal that major players expect external forces to absorb the massive Brazilian harvest and keep benchmark Chicago prices buoyant.
