Oracle Lands $7 Billion US Defense Deal Amid B3 Market Slump
Oracle secures a $6.99 billion US Department of Defense contract, highlighting its global cloud expansion as the Brazil stock market today faces a downturn.

Oracle (ORCL) has secured a 10-year, non-competitive contract worth up to $6.99 billion with the US Department of Defense (DoD). The deal consolidates fragmented software licensing into a single cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) framework across the military, Coast Guard, and intelligence community. This enterprise software agreement carries a base value of $3.31 billion for the first five years, with options to extend for another five years.
The contract aims to eliminate costly redundancies, strengthen cybersecurity, and standardize software procurement, which is projected to save US taxpayers at least $441 million over its lifecycle. For global market participants who invest in Brazil, this major operational agreement expands Oracle's global public sector footprint, directly affecting the underlying valuation metrics of Oracle's Brazilian Depositary Receipts (BDRs) traded on the B3 exchange under the ticker ORCL34. The agreement establishes a direct path for the US military to acquire Oracle’s commercial cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
This corporate development comes amid a broader downturn in the Brazil stock market today, with the benchmark Ibovespa today falling 1.00% to 174,962.44 points. Major B3 stocks also traded lower on Friday, with Petrobras (PETR4) dropping 1.21% to 42.43 BRL, Vale (VALE3) slipping 0.42% to 75.36 BRL, and Itaú Unibanco (ITUB4) down 0.68% to 42.27 BRL. Despite the local market pressure and fluctuations in the USD BRL exchange rate, Oracle's long-term enterprise software deal alters its global cloud market share, anchoring its position as a key player in high-security public sector technology.
